So I'm going through with a bit of a redesign with Hemlock lately. While he's still very much an Apothecary I want to emphasise his rogueish aspects a bit more, and decided to get some art for that purpose.

And by the way; that's not poison he's pouring on that knife. It's an anti-coagulant. Poison is pointless on something that just cuts you and makes you bleed, the stuff would never enter your bloodstream. For poison you need something that sticks in your opponent and doesn't let them bleed it out. Like a throwing knife... just y'know... off the top of my head.

Not so true: poisons that merely contact the skin exist. in Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition there's a particularly interesting poison called Carrion Crawler Mucous: on contact it can cause paralysis. Strike but a glancing blow against the skin of your foe and if they fail to resist its effects, they're completely paralyzed for a minute.
