This is how I spent much of FC2010. Explaining the goings on to folks who looked utterly confused by the presence of fursuiters on the dance floor and milling about the lobby while the swing band played.
This couple, though I have since forgotten their names, were dumbfounded at first. But, after a short explanation and a few, amusing stories...they were out on the dance floor, having a great time.
It was immediately after this, that the first grade teachers, who were sitting on the couches just behind where Tredain snapped this photo, started asking me the usual round of questions. I started introducing them to fursuiters as they walked by.....those ladies had a BALL. But that's a different story.

I remember talking to
at the bar, and it got a little too noisy for us so we stood up to get going. I saw the band start up, and about six fursuiters were dancing on the floor...along with more than a few mundane couples AND kids, who were having a blast.
Little moments like that make me believe that things can be drama-free, or at least less drama-prone, if we try.

The biggest portion of our problem is lazy reporters who just go for a story to get ratings rather than actually presenting the parts that make the con worth going to (and making it happen). That's one reason I was so pleased with the reporter from NBC who interviewed Oso. He gets major props for not only doing a great interview...but making it cute and positive.
Yeeeees. That would explain much. I only went into the dealer's den once. Long enough to say hello to Kyell, Kit, Zaush, Meesh, Endenden, Penh, Baron, and some other folks. I had intended to go back....but never managed to really get out of the lobby. Pity. T'would've been delicious to see you.
I believe, at this point in the conversation, I was telling them about my first time fursuiting. I was telling them about the little girl who smiled up at me during my first few seconds out....and the moment of realization that we have a tremendous power to make some really amazing magic, if we choose to.
