He was in his element. The rustling of leaves caused by faint gusts of wind that carried on them scents that betrayed all who passed, even if they didn't leave tracks anyone with eyes could follow. Broken twigs and bent blades of grass spoke with authority about the passing of goblins several hours ago, followed by web footed things that walked slowly, hunched forward and unsteady. If they didn't pace themselves right they would run right into the party of Bullywugs and their goblinoid quarry. That was fine by him though. He'd relished the chance to rid the world of a few more monsters that sought to make victims of the innocent, even now while questing for a fallen monarch and plotting revenge for his faithful canine companion. A ranger's work is never done.

The longest standing character from the game, literally in play since day one five years ago when I decided to inflict first edition AD&D on the guys. The character has seen conversions to other formats, namely the current 5th edition of D&D, and is to this day one of the few times I've seen a player successfully play a ranger in a game and not be the lone wolf type.
