TXDOT the Roadhound - Ceylon Magpie/Dhole

Materialized in or around what is known as Inner Space Cavern along IH-35 in 1963.

The first noises it mimicked were various cave echoes, dripping water, falling rocks and bat chirps. He began to follow the construction of the highway as it stretched Northward. In the early years he amassed a collection of mirrors - specifically rear-view mirrors - shiny vehicle bumpers, chrome door handles and jewelry that he kept in various corners of the Cavern.Today he commonly mimics construction noises and vehicle reverse beeps, never having left the highway and the ever ongoing work on it.

Enjoys laying around and yelling at itself to GET BACK TO WORK. BACK IT UP - WATCH IT! GET THE SHOVEL. Spaced with intermittent engine sounds and jackhammer noises. Places hardhats in questionable places - particularly fond of putting them on telephone poles. Estimated date of nap completion is 3 to 5 years depending on the weather or permits needed to be approved. WILL peel reflective stickers from things and keep them. Especially likes the road reflector buttons that separate lanes.

Lures deer near roads as a means of 'hunting' by mimicking mating calls or distress calls. The accidents caused by vehicle-deer collisions are just bonus shiny material.
