Ashley, to me, feels stronger. It stands out as a boy's name, also carries with it a similar androgyny. Fits with the character, from outward perspectives so far, quite well.
Aaron isn't bad but feels bland, forgettable. Unremarkable, though admittedly I'm short on complete insight on the char's overall definition as of yet.

I, Githe, of sound mind and body, do acknowledge that I have no business telling you how to do things, and only present this offensively-forward rant as my opinion.
Seconded on the mohawk. Though, the uncelebrated "long hairstyle from not cutting a mowhawk" and other variants would look nice. Like so:

You might be saying, "But Githe, those are all women." To which I shall say "Are they? Are they!?"
Basically chin-length hair styled in mohawk-inspired ways. The long hair over the eye in the center, more complete-looking image really just looks too much like Marty to me, and while the eye-patch look is goth staple, there are many other ways to do it. Just look at the new Dr. Who, he's got sort of an emo Elvis thing going on. This Ashley/Aaron/Ashton/Alabastaire/Bullwinkle comes off as more emo/goth/punk anyway, and needs a more styled or 'worked-on' look(s.) Not that Marty doesn't work on his hair, but that Aaron's hair needs to exude effort. The curse of the emo/goth/punk is to constantly make oneself different and then mourn/celebrate their outsider status.
As far as clothes, I see frayed denim, stripes, black undershirts, an abundance of accessories, but to the tune of metal whorls and hemp rather than rainbow plastic fare. Long in the leg, occasional jeans/jeanskirt combo, sleeves with thumbholes, loose on top, tight on bottom. Whatever he's wearing aught to have a hood nine times out of ten. Not necessarily monochrome, but more coordinated than a rainbowbrite. Ironic tees involving care bears. Lots of layers without sacrificing skin. long sleeves, short shirts, low riding pants that cut off before the ankle, lots and lots of shoes. multiple of the same shoes in different colors to mismatch. Bellybutton piercing... makeup... Formal wear leans toward the Victorian Dandy/Gallant, with coattails and frills- with these elements seeping into his casual attire.
Gallant would be a cool name, being an old word for 'metrosexual.'
