Bio: Born in Portuguese occupied Goa on the western coast of India sometime in the early 19th Century, Viccan was orphaned at a very young age. He lived in the large Goa Orphanage in the large city of Vasco Da Gama where he was often mistreated and beaten by the staff for his constant disobedience. One day, when Viccan was about to be flogged for missing curfew, the angry gray wolf cub shouted “NO!” His voice echoed so loud it brought fear into the hearts of his oppressors. With a confidence he had never experienced before, young Viccan focused his mind and immediately caused all of the staff that were about to punish him to float higher and higher into the air. The frightened staff members denounced the young wolf cub as a demon as they continued to float into the sky. Viccan, stunned by this sudden magical outburst, decided not to ask questions but instead to use this opportunity to escape. Quickly gathering his belongings, Viccan made a mad dash towards the open front gate only to stop when he saw the gate swing shut and several Portuguese Colonial troops lined up in his path.
“HALT!” they shouted at the growling young cub holding his suitcase and a knapsack on a stick over his shoulder.
“NO! I will NOT comply!” Viccan barked when suddenly the young wolf cub noticed that everyone all around him was now motionless, ‘frozen’ in time. “Did I do that?”
“NO, YOUNG WOLF, IT WAS I!” a booming voice echoed all around him as a Bengal fox wearing a regal robe and turban appeared before him.
“Who are you?” the scared wolf cub muttered.
“Fear not, Viccan, I am called Gahlot the Great! You have been through much sorrow and pain in this orphanage. I give you the opportunity to start a new life, in the peace and safety of my own home!”
“Why? Why?”
“You have great magical potential within you, Viccan. I have a vast magical academy where I and others can teach you to harness your powers, use them for the cause of peace. Stay with me, dear Viccan, and when you are old enough, you will enter my academy. The choice is yours. Think carefully because once you enter my home, you’ll never see this miserable place again.”
“That is all I need to know, I accept your kind offer!”
“Very good! BEHOLD!” Gahlot shouted, raising his arms into the air, making the pair vanish as time was ‘unfrozen’, leaving those at the orphanage wondering how Viccan got away from them. Viccan became a part of Gahlot’s large family, living peacefully and happily in the fox’s vast mansion-like home. Three generations of Gahlot’s descendents lived in the mansion, and all of them treated the young wolf cub with great kindness and love. During his teen years, Viccan learned much about magic from Gahlot’s grandchildren (who were about his age by this time) who he befriended. When Viccan was old enough, he entered Gahlot the Great’s Magic Academy. In the academy, the young wolf excelled, often scoring high marks in all his classes. It was during his third year that the British began to make inroads into India. The British would interfere with the internal affairs of the various kingdoms of India and would eventually take over and make all of India a colony of the British Empire. As the leadership of the Academy pondered what action to take, a young canine student of extraordinary magical abilities, Rupee Punjab, advised the group not to take any action. Rupee’s unique ability to foresee future events convinced the Academy leadership to not attempt to interfere in the course of events in the history of India lest the natural timeline would be disrupted. One of her fellow students who argued that the Academy should fight the British was Viccan. The many years he lived in Goa hardened his heart against all ‘outsiders.’ Though Viccan was passionate in his view, Gahlot the Great sided with Rupee, understanding that if the members of the Academy did stop the British takeover, the temptation would become too great for them to attempt to rule India, and to even, expand the nation’s borders using their magical skills. Viccan did finally concede to the Master’s point of view, but Rupee did admire his spirit and genuine concern for his countrymen. Eventually, Rupee and Viccan fell in love and got married. The couple stayed on at the Academy after their graduation for further studies in magic. During that time, Rupee gave birth to a daughter, Shamansta. As the young canine hybrid grew up, Viccan thought more and more about using magic to stop the British meddling in Indian affairs. The wolf kept his thoughts to himself, but over time, those thoughts nagged at him, pushing him to study magic harder to master older magic and create newer spells. Rupee noticed the changes in her husband’s behavior and became alarmed at his increasing obsession with gaining more magical power. At first, Viccan’s intentions were honorable, guided only by his love for his native land. But as time passed, his heart became more hardened and in his desperation, Viccan began to experiment with dark, evil magic. Gahlot the Great began to sense the change in Viccan’s attitude. Viccan kept his dark magical practices well hidden until one sleepless night, Rupee discovered the truth and reported it to Gahlot. When Gahlot and Rupee attempted to confront Viccan, the wolf went into a rage and tried to kill Rupee but Gahlot’s more powerful magic stopped him. Still enraged, Viccan called Rupee a traitor and announced that he was divorcing her for her treason. Then Viccan attacked Gahlot directly in a titanic battle of magic. While Rupee joined with Gahlot’s descendants to produce a magical shield to protect the Academy grounds, the fox and the wolf battled on. After hours and hours of magical combat, both Viccan and Gahlot the Great were at a point of exhaustion. It was then that Viccan made a large dark magical orb and hurled it at the Academy’s magical force field. As Gahlot was distracted by watching the orb strike, Viccan produced a sword and used it to grab him in the heart, running the sword all the way through his body. As Gahlot lay on the ground bleeding to death, Viccan declared himself the new Head Master of the Magical Academy. Enraged by what she witnessed, Rupee, for the first time, accessed her full magical powers and in one powerful burst, sent her ex-husband into the newly discovered alternate Universe of Quard. The canine then tried to use all of her healing magic to save Gahlot, but with his magic nearly depleted, Gahlot began to age quickly. All of the other magical wielders in the Academy focused their healing magic on their leader, but all they could manage to do is to help him survive for a week. In that time, a plan of succession was set so that when Gahlot the Great passed away, his many descendants could carry on the work of the Academy.
Meanwhile, it took Viccan many decades to find a way to escape Quard with his magic. When he did, he took to the jungles of India to search out and learn more dark magic. During his quest, he met, fell in love with and married a magical canine lady named Delhi. At first, Viccan and Delhi were happy together, even having a son they named Shankar. Viccan was pleased that his son had natural magical abilities but soon grew tired of his wife constantly arguing with him over trying to use dangerous dark magic. One day, while his son Shankar was on a long journey, Viccan found a very old spell that he used on himself. It not only increased his magical power level, it caused him to sprout very large wings from his back. Horrified by this development, Delhi pleaded with him to stop his quest into dark magic. Enraged, Viccan began to use his magic to attack her! Though Delhi also possessed a high level of magical powers, she was no match for her determined husband. Knocked down flat on her back and as Viccan was about to deliver the final blow, Delhi used all of her remaining magical energy to ‘slide’ into the Universe of Quard, vanishing milliseconds before her husband’s final strike of magical energy fell. Thinking he had killed her, Viccan searched for his son, telling him that his mother was eaten by a wild animal. It was much later, only after Rupee led the effort to reopen the portal to that alternate universe and free Delhi, that Shankar learned the truth and turned on his lying father. For now, Viccan has been once more exiled to the universe of Quard, but for how much longer will he stay there?
Personality: In one word, ‘evil.’ Viccan is a sceeming, diabolical, cruel and heartless furson who cares only for his own needs. He will work with others, but only when it furthers his own interests before he betrays them.
