Hello! This is my How You Ship It meme for Lunbra, I decided to go with the 2 minute version rather than the more widely used 5 minute one. I found the template here: https://twitter.com/goldgust/status.....57287350460416
Alright! So let me start off by laying out a quick summary of a couple of headcanons before I get into the chart.
- Like in the comics, Sombra is an Umbra pony who was found by the crystal guards in the snowy wastelands. However, he was taken in by the first crystal ruler, Princess Amore.
- As a child, Sombra was shy and reserved. Despite being taken in by the princess, many still viewed him as an outsider. His contrasting features, unknown origins, and distant personality made him a target of mistrust and bullying.
- Around this time, Celestia and Luna’s parents began to make various visits with Princess Amore in regards to forming an alliance with the Crystal Empire. It is this way in which Luna and Sombra were able to first make contact. The two instantly connected and would often play with each other during these visits.
- Unfortunately, the death of Celestia and Luna’s parents halted these visits, cutting the pair off from seeing each other for several years. They wouldn’t see each other again until Sombra and the royal sisters became rulers of their own respective countries.
- Now fully matured, the princess of love, the ruler of the crystal empire, and his adoptive mother, Princess Amore, stepped down and passed the crown down to Sombra.
- It is during this time that Sombra reopens negotiations for an alliance with Equestria and their newly crowned leaders, Celestia and Luna.
How it Happens:
Both Luna and Sombra shared very similar circumstances growing up which did not dissipate into their adult years. The two were isolated during their upbringing with minimal interaction with other children their age (aside from the times the two played together), both deemed themselves to be the black sheep of their family, but also, they mutually had feelings for each other during their childhood. These reasons, among others, allowed for the two to fall in love with each other seemingly at first sight when they were finally reunited as adults.
While Luna was able to garner enough confidence to develop a hot headed spirit, she was still reserved and introverted when it came to expressing herself to the fullest. Sombra on the other hand, grew to develop a passionate and charismatic personality. As such, now, Sombra was the one who would take the initiative to get closer to Luna, while she was more passive (though not completely).
Romantic Attitudes:
Both were equally as committed to the relationship as the other. Whether it was finding the time to be together or communicating with each other, the two put a lot of effort into their relationship.
Conflicts:
Due to her more hot headed attitude and insecurities in her young adult life, Luna was the quickest to start an argument. Often, these were misunderstandings and misconceptions, and at times she had difficulty forgiving or acknowledging her fault when clouded by her emotions. Of the two, she was the one who tended to take things more personally.
Sombra, being the more peaceful partner (during this time, at least) often did his best to quell his beloved’s anger. A well timed hug, kiss, reassurance, and even space almost always ceased the princess’s frustration. These moments would lead to Luna breaking down and vehemently apologizing to Sombra in the end as she vented and confided in him about her growing feelings of vexation stemming from Celestia and her subjects favoritism of her sister.
The King on the other hand, is much more balanced and controlled when it comes to his own frustrations and inner struggles. Not too quick to forgive, nor unwilling to give somebody the benefit of the doubt.
However, later on into their relationship, Sombra overhears a conversation between two ponies. In it, they express their pity to Sombra since he is dating an immortal being. Although this incident by itself would not bother him, that night, he experiences a nightmare about his mortality with flashes of a giant red crystal and himself being overtaken by shadows. This nightmare continues to plague him every night, and while others don’t seem to notice any change in his demeanor, Luna does. Her concerns would only be met by Sombra shrugging off the notions and reassurances of everything being fine.
Showing affection:
Sombra was the more touchy feely and verbally affectionate of the two. Always stealing a kiss on the lips, cheeks, hoof, or forehead from his blushing lover. Pulling Luna into embraces, head nuzzles, and being very keen on public displays of affection. And always whispering or flat out announcing words of love and flattery.
While Luna was more reserved than Sombra in this department, she wasn’t above touching, kissing, or telling Sombra just how much she loved him.
