This spectacular picture was done by the simply amazing
lunascythedragon, though her primary postings are to her DeviantArt page. Please be sure to head over there and check out more of her stunning work.Tannis and Rodent decided to explore a mysterious chasm, and it seems as if they stirred something up that should have been left alone. In their hurried climb to escape, Tannis lost his grip on the rocky surface and... well, let's just say the coyote is a creature's snack now (Tannis was always much better at swimming, than climbing).
I'm really at a loss for words to describe how much I love the way this came out. The details on the characters and setting, as well as the perspective achieved, are all simply fantastic. And the creature just looks gorgeous, climbing up after them with his maw gaping wide to catch the falling coyote.
My deepest thanks to Lunascy for taking this commission and doing such a phenomenal job with it. I highly recommend anyone who loves realism in their fantasy art to check her out and get a commission of your own.

*laughs* I guess that's a nice hope for coyote-lovers out there, but unless he has something on his vest that tastes bad to the creature's tongue, I don't think the monster is going to miss.
And thank you once again. You can be sure that I'll be interested in commissioning you again in the future.

*laughs* Prey being snatched by a frog-like tongue is one of my all-time favorites.
I can just imagine Tannis having that momentary sense of relieve when the jaws miss him, only to be caught by the tongue and pulled back up into the hungry maw.
So, stop putting ideas in my head. They always end up costing me money. *laughs*

*smiles* I imagine Tannis' only hope is to be snatched from those jaws at the last moment, by some fast-flying, agile eagle, swooping in to catch him with his talons. Unfortunately, the only eagle I know would probably dive straight down into the jaws and forget to pull out.
But yeah. As delightful and fun as cartoony pictures are, sometimes I just like to remind myself of how awesome something more realistic can be as well.
