The Superior Predator (with short story)
"H-h-hey wait, Rav, b-buddy, we can talk about this, right!?" stutters Tydas. looking up at the bright yellow eyes of Ravik as the Electrite pinned Ty to ground with his lower jaw~
Tydas nervously started stroking his face, hoping in vain to appease the beast that eyed him like an easy meal.
In response Ravik's tongue slid across his upper lips which then curled into a mocking, toothy smirk. Ty let out an verbalization of dread as Ravik rumbled his throat, the vibrations of the bass sending a chill up his shuttering body
"Whats there to talk about, meat~"
"I-I-I got shrunk n' stuff and I don't even know by what! A-and...C'mon man... can't you hold off on this...please??"
"Hmh hmh hmh~ A while ago I ambushed an alchemist caravan, I told them to give me all their potions and shit and I'd let them go. Heh, suckers~"
The Electrite lifted up his head, keeping his eyes on Ty
"But anyway, I better get this over with, don't know how long the effect will last~"
And with that Ravik lunged down and scooped Tydas up in his jaws
"ACK! NOOO!"
Tydas did was he could to worm and crawl from Ravik's maw but the suction of Ravik's throat was too great. Ty's pleads of freedom were cut short as a glossy yellow tongue slapped him in the face and finished the job of dragging the mangrove drake into the yawning abyss of Ravik's throat
**GLLLLCK~**
Ravik smiled proudly to himself, glad that he had finally proved predatory dominance over his rival. He let his body flop to the side and examined the barely noticeable lump on his lean stomach
he snickered and tightened his gut, forcing Ty into a cramped ball
"Where's your cocky quips now, snack? Heh heh heh~"

Lyse is actually has a polar opposite predatory style to his. She only eats when she's hungry, which is half as often as Ravik, and when she does hunt she ambushes her prey by swiftly biting down on the neck to sever the spinal cord quickly and painlessly. When she's not hungry she's actually rather kind, motherly, and nature loving. She cares for orphan fawns and helps try to get them an adoptive mother, she loosens nuts and berries from trees and berries for woodland creatures large and small. But while this might seem generous and benevolent she does this to ensure that the ecosystem is thriving and well supplied with energy that she and her family can later exploit. ie, she fattens the animals now for slaughter later
But overall she doesn't feast on anthros unless absolutely necessary, she prefers wild game.
Nim is still very young and eats nearly constantly to build up mass, usually by having many small snacks throughout the day. Squirrels, raccoons, opossums, and most importantly fish make up his usual diet. He's a natural fisher and he is noted for clearing out most of the fish in nearly lakes and ponds where he lives.
Its he sees you he'll likely run away, since his father has instilled in him the idea that all anthros are bad. However... is he finds himself at an advantage he *might* just decide to eat you instead of the fish and since he's not big enough to swallow anthros whole... you can expect a long, messy demise.

I wonder if ravik actually does not intend to digest, but is simply intending to dominate, living tydas could be useful to spread word of the true pred. Plus a rival may not be so different from friend depending on rival.
I kind of like non-fatal vore where the pred is in no hurry to let the prey realise that if the pred was even planning on it in the first place instead of having a change of heart mid digestion. Nothing says domination while still being heartwarming, like a terrified prey fighting for his life not knowing the pred has deemed his life worthy to keep.

"Guilt trip them into doing what I say by reminding them how *merciful* I was sparing their meek little lives~ Not bad at all~ Very *me* too~"
