And I'm not picking on them. The Wolven and Catfolk race are closely related. Catfolk speak sounds like exagerated Spanish with too many double r's. Wolven sounds like Russian. So I figured I'd use actual Russian for his name so it would actually be "Ice Wolf" instead of just saying it means "Ice Wolf".
Well, with this guy it was "How do I give him as skimpy an outfit as possible and still make believable that he grew up in a frozen tundra?" Since this is a solo thing between my mate and I there's a little more emphasis on sexy guys in skimpy clothes having sex with each other than one would normally find in a normal D&D campaign. Otherwise I would have decked this guy out in a leather shirt and pants, and an awesome looking leather long coat.
In this case, the guy is friendly so I gave him nice big eyes. He's been in his fair share of fights so I gave him a couple scars. He knows he's good looking so he styles his hair and lets his chest and abs show, but he's a little shy so he wears his hair long to cover his face and wears the scarf and armor to hide his neck and shoulders. The arm bands distinguish his Cast (Blue for Beta=The warrior/hunter cast in Wolven society) and his rank within that cast. (White= an experienced warrior. Black = an experienced hunter.) He has a lot of pouches on him that says that he likes to be prepared for any situations, and the second set of belts tells us that he would carry his swords on either side of him when he has them on him. The pants are just like the arm bands. The loincloth signifies adult hood. And the leg and arm bracers are just classic fantasy warrior stuff and gloves and foot wrappings are because I thought they looked cool.
Yes I think WAY too much when I design characters, but I don't think they feel like actual people if one doesn't think about those kinds of things. I hate one dimensional characters.
