Author Neil Gaiman is celebrating his ninth blogiversary by asking us fans to submit pictures of ourselves with the number nine. Bonus points if we "dress to the nines" as a character from Gaiman's work. This is my crudely done submission featuring myself as my favorite (male) character from The Sandman, the Corinthian.

He's a nightmare created by Dream who has mouths in place of his eyeballs. He is shown to pluck out a dead person's eyes and place them where his should be, giving him the ability to see what the person saw just before dieing. By Dream's own description, the Corinthian is "a nightmare created to be the darkness, and the fear of darkness in every human heart. A black mirror, made to reflect everything about itself that humanity will not confront." Unfortunately, when Dream is imprisoned, he escapes into the waking world and becomes a serial killer. When Dream eventually finds him again, he is deemed to be a failure and is destroyed. Later, in my favorite volume of The Sandman (The Kindly Ones), Dream recreates the Corinthian who proves to be more useful the second time around.

Out of 391 submissions sent in so far, there are only 3 other Corinthians. I was the first, ergo I rule.
