Norlion & Azaruth - Beastly Bonds
D&D story time: It was Curse of Sthrad in the 5th edition, playing online Roll20.
IRL: By then, I had played my Paladin, Norlion over 5 times in a row, all in failing campaigns that never fell through. I was still pretty new to D&D & having a “video game all-round hero” mentality didn’t help when I made Norlion as my first character. I felt like total crap. My mind reeling over the insults & misunderstanding of what was happening, all thinking it was my fault for all my misfortunes of insulting DMs & murder-hobo Players. I decided to give it one last try after Norlion died from the last campaign & came across the CoS game in need of a healer, so I jumped at the chance. I knew I could fit into the world of darkness with my own feelings of despair as a Were-Lion...
In-Game: The adventurers were taking care of a caravan of nomads along a river & a forest. A Warforged Druid, A hulking barbarian & a Teifling sorcerer named Azaruth. Norlion was following them in curiosity & in need of help to defeat the one who cursed him, Sthrad. The barbarian got into an argument with the druid over delivering a doll head to a shop keep & enraged, punted the head clear into the forest & spun directly into Norlion’s feet. He grabs it & sword drawn out, Azaruth found Norlion & a bond was made. Only made more apparent as a test of moral understanding, he gave him a single blade hilt with no blade. A “Sun Sword” it was called & Norlion had felt the connections run deeper as he traveled further. They made friends with a local old hunter & entered into the castle, separated into 2 groups. One to be at the main dining hall with the barbarian & Azaruth, while the others sneaked around the back to collect the crystal needed to power the Sun Sword.
After going through the castle & monsters, they confronted Sthrad & killed him. As the party set out on their separate ways, Norlion’s time was up & his body started to fade & Azaruth, in a moment of pure emotion, kissed him as his body fades into light.
