Don't think that this is an area that
carcharoth has explored much yet, so here's an idea from me :P
The main premise behind this was lightening up the design of the landbased warrior to make it feasable for maritime action. For example, when thinking this up, I first thought of making the armour consist of the upper section of the lamilar armour worn by the Tar-Koldor warriors (because including the parts below the waist would be combersome for the marine if he needed to swim). This idea was then refined to making the armour leather rather than metal to lighten it and make it more flexible, and then this was further refined to making it into a quilted vest as a compromise between protection and freedom of movement. Continuing the idea that he'd need to be freed up as much as possible for swimming, the tunic was shortened to waist length, and the sleeves were bound to stop them billowing in the water. Also, he wears his scabbard on his back as a hip placed one would probably get tangled in his legs while swimming. On his wrists he wears leather bands for support and in place of vambraces. I decided not to give him a collar like the normal warriors as I thought it'd be easier for him to swim without on. As a sort of compromise, his helmet includes an elongated neck guard.
Finally, I've given him boot similar to what
carcharoth has experimented with in his recent pics. I was devided on whether they'd wear these or the leg wrappings as the latter would make swimming easier, but ultimately I decided the risk of splinters was worth the trade off.
