Ever since the Calamity, the Gods fled from the Earth leaving the mortals to fend for themselves. The Gods created the Celestial Gate and made a haven in the sky. The claws of the Underworld known as the Encroaching Embrace, began to drag the wayward souls in the wake. The mortals were lost in despair. Serenity and tranquility became bedtime stories to the youth and dying wishes to the elderly. As the years passed, a few Gods took pity on the mortals. With a mere jar of the gate, life returned to the godforsaken land below. Rivers became pure, forests revitalized, and the light pushed the creeping darkness back into the Underworld. As hope returned to the land, the mortals quickly knew the source of their salvation. Like moths to the flame, they made their way to the Celestial Gate to rush for succor. But the Gods did not allow anyone to pass. This wouldn't stop the mortals. They would sooner die than return to the recovering Earth. Soon, the Gods came together to form a declaration. The Celestial Gate will remain open, but only the most worthy mortals may pass through. They shall be judged on their deeds on Earth and if they are pure and pass judgement, they shall transcend. Thus, the Celestial Gate released wide, washing the mortals back to Earth. All that remained at the entrance was a Guardian. He wore a golden sash that read the timeline of one's life. Seven golden balls to detect each of the seven sins. And lastly, lightning to strike those who are unruly. And thus, the Heaven's Gatekeeper was born.
