Well I would guess this is latex paint? Or is this Larpex?
I'm heading to a fur con in texas called furry fiesta and I wanted to paint my face each day. How many hours does this take for the face and neck? Can you make any suggestions for reading I should go over before attempting?
I've basically got a week to pull it off.

Lots of good questions. The paint is a combination of Ben Nye's creme color liners for the base, and Snazaroo's cake paints for the details. It takes me less than an hour to paint a face, less than half an hour if it's one I paint often, but I've been painting for several years, so factor that in.
I cringe a bit at offering this, but I've a really old website (fp.roxanne597.com) with a bit of makeup how-to in the CATS style, and a bit of basic know-how included. Feel free to email me if you have any more specific questions, I'd love to help!

The colors are lovely, though that is probably your skill involved in it that presents them as such. I like the dry look. I was thinking of going with larpex/latex because after the painting is done it can be powdered to keep it from rubbing off onto things.
Do you have any suggestions for other paints that "dry" or am I pretty much stuck with shiny blue man group style latex?
I'd imagine what you've shown here is wet/rubs off onto other things quite easily.

Nope, the makeup shown here has been powdered, so it's set. It's got a dry feel, and it won't come off unless you apply oil-based makeup removal products to break down the seal.
Oil-based paints all have to be powdered to be set (to look dry, and to be touch-fast). Water-based paints will dry on their own, but they need a barrier spray applied in order to "set" them - they will rub off more easily.

Well I've run into a sort of roadblock, all my local craft stores only sell small kits from snazaroo for face painting, and no liquid setter!
Are there any chain stores you can think of, from the top of your head, that might have a good selection for face painting? Or do you use a specific online vendor?

I do all my makeup shopping online. I usually use snazaroo.us and alconeco.com (main > character > clown/face painters, but if you're looking for a one-stop shop, try stagesupply.com. There are thousands of products there, so if you're not sure which to look at let me know.
