I've completed Spellbook, everyone! By the time you see this, there will probably be a journal about the book and how I should reveal these parts. I'll let everyone voice their opinions there so that I can get an idea of what everyone wants.
The stories are separated into five different sections: One for each of the five characters: Zephyr the frog, Willow the wolf, Cutlass the dragon, Lysander the moose, and Ashura the crane. Each section tells the story from each of their own perspectives.
Zephyr: Tutoring
Before I begin my journey, I should review how elemental magic works:
There are five elements: Air, Earth, Fire, Plant, and Water. Different elements each relate to each other differently. Air helps transport Water, Water helps feed Plant, Plant helps fuel Fire, Fire helps form Earth, and Earth helps guide Air. These are the ways the five elements help each other. Alternatively, they can also hurt each other. Air erodes Plant, Plant siphons Earth, Earth absorbs Water, Water extinguishes Fire, and Fire burns Air. In other words, for each element, there are two elements it can help or defeat, and there are two other elements by which it can be helped or be defeated.
When an elementalist starts out elemental magic, they typically focus on a single element. For example, being a frog, I decided to simply focus on water. Once an elementalist gains mastery over their first element, they gain a magical force called essence. As a matter of fact, they gain three different types of essence; the essence of the element the elementalist mastered along with the essences of the one it helps and the one which helps it. My essences are of Air, Water, and Plant.
In order to gain new essences, one must win a duel against another elementalist. A duel works as follows: Each duelist creates an elemental core. From here, each elementalist attempts to destroy the opponent’s core. Elementalists create elemental attacks to fight against the opponent’s core and elemental supports to sustain their own core. In the end, the victor gains essence of the element of their core. However, the loser does not lose anything, other than the parchment and ink used to conjure up the elements.
What is the purpose of obtaining essence, one might wonder? The answer is simple. If one were to gather three essences of one element or at least one essence of each element...
