When you design anything there's always going to be compromises. With light aircraft you have to make more compromises to get things to work.
This shows the tandem seating arrangement that I plan on using in the airplane. The reason for raising the passenger in the backseat has two reasons. 1 it allows the passenger to be moved farther forward by about 8 to 10 in. 2 it allows the passenger to see over the pilots head so they can see what's ahead. This design decision comes from spending a few hours in the backseat of Dad's Super Cub where looking forward all I could see was Dad's shoulder blades. I think this is a good compromise over building it with side-by-side seating.

When you say vehicle studies, what exactly do you mean?
With this drawing I'm basically working out the vertical height and indirectly the width of the fuselage cabin area. One of the things that I didn't really care about when I was riding with Dad was the fact is I couldn't see anything in front of the airplane for the most part because I was sitting behind him. To try and alleviate that issue I've decided to raise the rear seat approximately 7 in to give the passenger the ability to look over the Pilot's head if they are about the same stature.

There will be plenty of room to manipulate the rudder pedals... trust me
The pilot and fuel is on the CG so it's hard to get the passenger on the same CG. The trim system is simple and effective so trimming will not be an issue.
I've got most of the issues worked out on putting things together what's left is getting the wood sizes and laminate schedules worked out for the fuselage.
