graphographer did a session of several sketches with me, this is the result!
Today we see: Shoulder designs (Revision B) for Philomela.
Mostly because the 3D model needs the shoulders to actually work, because after extensive testing.... they do not look very good when trying to angle the arms forward or backward.and pulling it all up. So first i needed to show what's covered by those shoulders so that next time we'll design a better shoulderpad.
Man. Philomela must have some really really light arms for this contraption to be as flimsy as it looks. Either that or she is a fictional character! But that cannot be! We witnessed her construction! Ah, well...

oh, let's see why that's impossible:
• The gear ratio is such that unless that stuff is made of admantine it would strip.
• The hooke's totally woul make it impossible for her to do the 3rd degree of motion for angles above and below 45°.
• Anything below those 3 degree of motion is completely handwaved.
Basically if done "properly" that shoulder should look like a mix between an engine gear shift and an engine transmission and it should be made with materials with a shearing resistance unheard of. 😂🤣😂🤣
It's a fantasy, but a very beautiful one ❤️ and i thank the artist for every single minute she spent working on that and following my ideas of how to "strip down everything unnecessary and handwaveable"
Because the original design i had was nightmarish to draw, and she helped me a lot to decide what would be simple, eye-pleasing, and still give the idea that "IT! CAN! BE! DONE!". ❤️
