I'll actually start doind some new drawings tomorrow now that I am getting more free time. Also, I should be uploading the full story soon, including the relevant section with each drawing.
Willow: Questing
“...Then the elementalist may have their wish- their heart’s desire- granted,” I finish explaining to Maple and Lily. “My heart’s desire is for Grandma Orchid to come back to us! However, only one wish can be granted in a generation. According to constellations and records I’ve found, the previous generation recently ended. If we’re quick, we can bring her back!”
Maple shakes her head skeptically. “This wish,” Maple asks, “It’s not something that’s going to bring Grandma back as a zombie or something, is it? She’ll be back to normal?”
“No, she wouldn’t come back as something like that. The texts are very clear.” I try to explain it in the best way I can. “This is a reward for vigilant effort.”
“But,” Maple continues, “You can’t afford to go chasing this dream if it’s not going to amount to anything. We need you here with us. Lily and I can’t take care of the house alone.”
“Then come with me. We can neglect the house for a while if it means we’ll be bringing her back. Please…”
“But do you really-” Maple stops herself. It looks like she wants to say something to me, but she decides against it for whatever reason. “...This really means a lot to you, doesn’t it?”
I nod frantically. “Yes it does! We need to save Grandma! Don’t you agree?”
“I-” Maple goes silent again. What’s keeping her from saying “yes”? Does she not love Grandma Orchid? Does she not want the best for her?
Lily interrupts, “I want to help you, Willow. I don’t like seeing you like this.”
Visibly frustrated, Maple grumbles. “Fine. But only three days. Then we need to come back to the house and check up on things. Once that’s done, we can consider going back out again.”
I can’t believe it. “Maple! If we do that, someone else will get the wish granted first!”
“We can’t risk it,” Maple replies, frustrated, “We can’t afford for something to happen to the house while we’re gone. If we get Grandma back, good. If we don’t, then-”
“That won’t happen,” I rebuke. I can’t believe she’s going to play devil’s advocate when Grandma is at stake. “I’m going to do it. And if you’re only going to give me three days to do it, then we have to act fast.” I rush into the house and begin packing, prewriting all my elemental parchment, save for one final mark on each so that I can activate them immediately with that mark. The others look hesitant and concerned, but I they shouldn’t be. This will be simple. We will get Grandma Orchid back.
