I didn't find out to press up and down on the barrel for years!

Yeah... it did trip me up for some hours as I tried jumping on the barrel since it bounced... until I figured out you had to press up and down for it to move. That's one AVGN moment right there.

I tried the jumping thing, too! I kept going back to that level and just doing that over and over again, and then I tried to find alternate routes! x.x Unfortunately, I wasn't quite smart enough to figure out that I could press up and down to make it move! I don't think I've ever felt stupider than I did when someone told me to press up and down on it a few years later.

Took me years too. Hah. I think there's enough of a consensus to prove that it's bad game design and not us being stupid.

You can actually do that? XD I tried that for years and years, just couldn't get the top of the darn thing to go past the bottom of the wall! I about tore my hair out!! It didn't help that I was so terrible back then that I'd die of a time over about 60 seconds into my barrel adventure.

Maybe I was ducking every time I landed on it out of habit without realising that was affecting it.

Or maybe you were just awesome-r than me. x3 Either way it's pretty cool that at least one of us was able to get past the darned thing!! What was worse, was my older brother had gotten past it back then, but wouldn't tell me how to do it. Of course he kept dying in Ice Cap Zone and I had to beat it for him... But still!

I too got stuck here many years ago and tried jumping up and down to either send it far enough down or raise it high enough to jump under. I think I once almost succeeded with that method only to be crushed by the barrel. >.<

Thanks for the tip guys. I never knew to press up and down. I thought it was all about timing my jumps correctly. I will be playing Sonic 3 on my Nintendo Game Cube soon enough.
