Which would have tied in with my mistaken assumption. Prior to your posting of the older Rossweisse comics, I somehow mistakenly thought she had been banished over an incident where she was leading a warrior to Valhalla when he groped her butt and she cut his hand off for it. Odin had to punish her for maiming a fighter of Ragnarok but let her off light since the now handless warrior deserved it for touching one of His Valkyries in such a way.

Obviously, whoever it was scared the bleep out of her. Guess there's something that even scares her.

I think they could appear any form they want to appear. Perhaps as a hint to remind Rossweisse who's turf she's on, this one did not choose to show up in a less intimidating form.

Abrahamic religions are always a little hard to reconcile in multi-panthionic settings, partly because they don't acknowledge other beliefs to begin with. but the biggest problem is defining comparative abilites when one side just says "i'm better than everyone else in every way" regardless of the situation.

in this particular case it's pretty easy to pick out, though. devout rulers and clerics were supposed to be led to whatever their final reward was called then by a suitably impressive angel, which would definitively outclass a valkyrie. they weren't superhumanly powerful by most respects, simply couriers sent to pick up the best warriors to fight in Ragnaroc. Odin had better things to do with his best warriors than scout talent.

There are 9 different classes of angels identified by Christian theology. A "Dominion" is an angel who presides over a nation, and the passing of an emperor would be worthy of it's attention.

I've always been fascinated how THAT particular version of angels became so prevalent. Or rather, how the artist came up with it in the first place. Probably something having to do with "Creating God in our own image".
