the padded duct tape dummy.
the head is a bit too high up, when worn the bottom of the collar is at the top of the padded shoulders.
i am going to attach the back and chest padding (which both have a battery powered fan in them, the same kind i used in my totoro and they last like 6 hours) to a sports jersy to be put on before the suit, the rest will be attached to the suit.
this has been A LOT of work already and i am not looking forward to installing the body padding.
i don't normally post WIP shots but this is the biggest project i have taken on so far and it has been a lot of work and it will be a while before i can share the finial results.

OMG that is so friggin hilariouse! xDD lol, i love it, it looks like its gona turn out very nice indeed! just a few questions, how will the foam stay on the body? will it be glued into the inside of the costume? and another, how do u figure out your pattern??? do u duck tape the entire body again once the foam is on? thanks, ^^ *making a suit that has allot of foam in it just need some help*
i litterally sit down with a box of safty pins and pin the fur together around the padded dummy.
i work out the pattern as i go, cutting darts into the fabric as needed to get a snug shapely fit, then i hand sew where the pins are with the stiches about an inch apart, then i mark off and secure the zipper line with straight pins (stuck through the fur and into the dummy to keep the fur in place) and cut the line with an exacto knife and hand sew on the zipper. then i trace around the padding so i know where to put it. then i wiggle the padding loose take the padding and cloth body off the dummy, take the pins out, then machine sew it. then i line the padding up so the drawn lines meet up with the edges of the padding, glue to keep it in place, and sew cloth over the padding and to the fur backing to keep it from wiggling free. then put it all back on the dummy, air brush it, brush the fur till soft, then prop it up for photos.
making the body on the dummy saves me A LOT of time this way and it turns the body making process into putting a skin on a sculpture, because with my ADD and learning disablity clothing patterns confuse the **** out of me and i just cannot function when i try to both make or use a pattern :S

it's full of pillow stuffing. i have enough on hand to stuff the dumy of 1 large person at a time (hence i can only work on one body at a time)
i have now gotten in the habbit of hanging the dummy in my back yard witht he costume fully set up on it for photos, that way i can show the actuall fit of the costume.
