Halvrika Hringurhali, an Adept of the Order of the Surveillant Eye, was horribly injured at the paws of a practitioner who used dark magic on the raccoon to twist her to his will. She lost an eye in fighting him, but the magic - the Worms in the Apple that he had infected her with, had to be ripped out of her, root and branch, by force.
With the aid of the Masters of her Order, that task was accomplished, but it left her with wounds deeper than any blade could have inflicted. She appears prematurely aged now, her once grayish-green eye color now red, but it runs deeper than that. The spell that the Duke of Lem had imbued her with fed on emotion, and in removing it her emotions are now . . . well, either gone forever, or merely suppressed for an unknown amount of time.
She has exiled herself to the seaport of Engery, far from home, far from the capitol, in order to heal.
It's been three years now.
