Danger prone and a little bit dense, Datura, preferring to go by a nickname he doesn't recall getting, is like Murphy's Law personified. Sometimes an adventure pays off, and sometimes you lose the claws on your right side. No one can be sure if he says or does unreasonable things as a way to tease Ash or if he's sincere in his tomfoolery. Thom likes him around, as he isn't always doing foolish stuff, but when he does you'd almost want to not get involved. But he's got his charms, and is almost like a constant test of one's patience. If you can make it through one of his adventures then you'd probably make it through anything that comes your way.
