There was a brief period of time in Dec. 07 where the a mob in Dustwallow Marsh summoned him and he was tameable for 7 seconds. Through cleverness, a couple of people to help you, and a lot of preparation and practice, you could get your 20 second 'tame beast' cast timer down to just under 7 seconds and nab him. They took him out of the game a few weeks after people figured out how to tame him.
