Ashura: Wishing
Shortly after finding and throwing a wish out of curiosity into that strange ritual circle, some guard found me, tied me up, and brought me in front of King Moses, himself.
“I see that you’ve also been part of this insane ritual,” He states after the guards read their report to him.
I shake my head. I just wrote down a wish and threw it on the blank portion of the circle out of sheer curiosity. While I mastered air elemental magic, I never knew about summoning circles or the like. I thought it was some kind of made-up tale. I didn’t even think I completed any rituals. “I wasn’t part of this at all! I just wanted to get a book and a secret passage-”
“Silence!” King Moses barked. I knew it would be pointless to stand up to him. However, I hear a noise from behind me as the door slams open.
“King Moses, I return!” A large, purple falcon appears through the door openings. Unlike me, he is not wearing the heavy rosary bead restraints that keep me and other people from flying. Who was this person?
“Ah, welcome back, Angelic Master,” King Moses replies. I had no idea that there was an angel in this kingdom, let alone one who looked so much like a bird.
“I’m afraid there is a misunderstanding. This crane who is bound up in rope before you is not a ritualist. As a matter of fact, this is God’s chosen one.”
“I am? But-”
“Silence!” This time, the Angelic Master is the one barking orders at me.
“But if I’m-”
“I said silence, or God will smite you!”
I stay silent.
“You will have to forgive them, King Moses, they have not yet received their training in holiness. In fact, that is why I was called here again.” King Moses nods. I stay still in the ropes, confused and nervous. “I have been assigned as this individual’s guardian angel. I will be teaching them how to fulfill their destiny in serving The Lord, God Almighty.”
King Moses lifts his finger. “But why a bird, of all people?”
“You dare question God?” The statement comes off as less of a question and more of a life-or-death threat.
“No, I believe this is good. I’m just curious-”
“You do not need to know the workings of The Lord, you just need to be obedient to The Lord.”
The King spends a moment to process what he heard. “...Very well. Guards, untie God’s chosen one!” And with that, the ropes and rosary bead weights come off and I head out of the castle with my new… “Guardian Angel”

“I am Abaddon,” the angel explains to me, “And I am actually a demon. I am a demon you summoned to help you. I conquer, and your wish was to ‘conquer any problem you faced’. I am here for that, and I am going to guide you on your journey to becoming a better elementalist.”
I tilt my head. “Why?”
“This needs to be done if you want to conquer your problems. Also, it’s best you don’t talk to anyone other than me.”
More confused, I ask again, “why?”
“When you made your contract with me, you gave up an important part of yourself- your reliability. That is part of the ritual, and this ailment will stick with you for as long as you live. Now, everyone else will believe that anything you say is a lie. Except for me, that is.” I shudder, realizing what I have done. “But that is not an issue. This is a problem you will never be able to conquer, and so you will be dependent on me, by contract. Until you die, I will be with you, and I will solve any problem you face. For now, let’s head north. An opponent waits for you there.”
I begin to wonder if this is a good thing. I won’t face any unsolvable problems anymore, but I will have him following me around for the rest of time. This is all happening so fast. For now, I think it’s best I just follow his lead and go north with him.
