Of Short Giggles and Eccentric Laughter
It's a bit of a situation where one thing leads to another. Through relaxing, one guy makes a joke the other laughs and it's all around a good time, but again one thing leads to another.
Wow this one takes me back a bit, especially seeing how it was a complete surprise to meet Oselotti at Anthrocon for the first time in 2015. If I remember correctly it was just completely random where we met by registration and all around it was just a nice wonderful meeting! He was great to talk to especially when it came to talking about his journey to the con and he was easily amused too. Oselotti himself is an absolutely incredible person and artist, and I've known him for a little more than a decade.
I wouldn't even know where to start when it comes to talking about his artwork, but I would say his eye for detail in textures, the anatomy of the characters that he draws in his work and making everything stand out in such an open way is inspiring. Of course there is a lot of love for paws in his work, but the one thing that stands out is he exceeds at bring out a characters personality and has done that numerous times when I have commissioned him or got artwork from him. And he's an incredible friend too, and is very kind and bubbly too, if anything he's very energetic. Do check out his work when you get a chance, and look at the detail he puts in those backgrounds and the characters themselves.
As for the artwork itself, there's a lot that can said about it. I've actually used this and some of the others that Oselotti have created to help show how he can do preliminary sketches without taking up the whole page, as you can see in the top left. It's an interesting technique that allows you to come up with numerous poses that you could use for future work while also coming up with the idea for the picture at hand. And speaking of the picture at hand there's a lot that I like about it. From the paws to the bit of size difference, to the expressions that just feel welcoming and kind and open, as well as the fact that the penciled shading just looks good. The anatomy stands out well, there is a sense of depth in the muscle and the overall shapes of their bodies are shown in a nice neat way. I would heavily suggest checking out their work when you are given the chance.
Oh, and there was another he drew during the con.
