a month or so ago i made a template for designing liveries for my living planes =D since the spandex body suits i usually draw them in really wouldn't work in practice, and a plane's entire sense of fashion would realistically be based around the liveries they decide to put on their bodies (via a henna-like dye that lasts for a month before starting to fade). since feral planes in my world do have *some* standard of decency despite being naked all the time :P i figured there would be a standard for the liveries they choose to wear...with a casual, moderate, and formal tier just like humans have.
that being said, i wanted to draw the living airplane equivalent of "white tie", aka the most formal attire a human can wear in the western hemisphere: https://www.tie-a-tie.net/wp-conten.....7228721817.jpg (basically a step up from black tie, aka the tuxedo XD)
black and white are traditionally the most formal colors when paired together, and the whole concept with white point is to draw all the attention up to the face, away from the naughty bits :P which are rude to stare at in formal settings >:3 males wear black facial patches in one of three styles, with a traditional round nose patch, both of which are bold and regal and evoke a sense of masculinity. the pattern overall hints at a sense of speed and motion, which is complimentary on a plane body XD basically, like all fashion, its designed to highlight the strengths of the body and hide the weaknesses
prop planes, be it prop-noses or prop-wings (male or female) have black props and spinners too, but i didnt want to make too many templates for a livery as basic as this XD it can translate onto just about any aircraft, living or otherwise :P

Neat. :3 To think that aircrafts wearing anything is quite uncommon. >.< Outfit could benefit many characters a lot imho. Perhaps this can fill the deficiency a little.
I like the idea of the black covering the "bits". I didn't think of it when I looked at the picture, but it makes sooo much sense. x3 Anyways, this gave me an idea of aircrafts in tight vinyl suits. I have a thing for vinyl and I *might* do something with it.
And don't worry if your art is a little "off-topic" for a plane-smut! It's beautiful to explore new ideas and be creative. It's rather that trying to do "what's expected of you" can ultimately close many roads and to think how many interesting ideas are lost because people are too afraid to explore them.

yeah i think so too =D and im sure there are materials out there that would work XD sorta...its just very impractical for feral planes, dyed skin makes a lot more sense, heh x3 cuz obviously actual paint wouldent work either, i've seen Goldfinger, i know what happens when skin gets painted! D=
it definitely makes them harder to see, thats for sure :P but omg i'd love to see some planes in vinyl or latex, has been a kink of mine too, just havent really done any pics with the concept yet XD
indeed! havent done much SFW stuff in the last few years after abandoning my DA (for the most part XD) so now they'll have to be uploaded here instead =D

Right, no actual paint. *notes in his notebook* Dye is an interesting idea. I wonder how long the dye can stay on the skin before it "wears off"? And if a plane would want to change their attire during the day that would firstly require the dye to be carefully washed. There is so much more to explore! Perhaps you could do a detailed info-graphic/ref about how it works.
I have so many ideas popping in my head, but vinyl's definitely been "chasing" me for some time. I think it's time to make it happen. >:3
Sad to hear you had to abandon your dA. :c Hopefully FA will still be more friendly!

i figure a decent amount of time a dye livery can last would be about a month or two before starting to fade, eventually fading away completely after about 3 months if no touch-ups were made =D sort of like henna, but a synthetic, non-toxic variety that can come in a variety of colors and can also be washed off by a special type of soap that only dissolves the dye (this is where things venture into the realm of fiction cuz im not aware of any chemical that would do that XD or even a dye that would act like how i described x3)
do eet >:3
do eet >:3
thankies! ^-^ not many creatures can pull off a formal look while remaining totally naked, is one of the many benefits of being a plane =D
course only problem is they'd look like this for at least 2 weeks after whatever event required the livery change XD they'd be formal no matter what they're doing afterwords x3
