Considering that we see clowns at carnivals, the word "carnival" derived from the Latin word "carn", meaning "flesh" and "levare" meaning "to put away"... that means something darker.

So next time you go to a carnival? Just get some popcorn.

You can go back even further than Ronald McDonald. Remember "Pagliacci"? The opera?

The signature song "Vesti la Giubba", or "Put On Your Make-Up", beautifully, if not cathartically, illustrates a man's transformation to a face-painted harlequin driven by vengeance.

Ronald come to a McDonald's when it is the grand opening. It is a real person, I heard he guy who came to the one I work at was a smoker. The Japanese Ronald wears black a suit and tie, from what I heard.

The only clowns really I trust in general are Rodeo clowns.
