Two Immortals
Christmas
December had arrived and that meant snow was here for the northern part of Silvergreen City where Samantha and Nicholas lived. While she was more for the sunshine and warmth, the female vampire didn’t mind the snow as it was very pretty. Now with going to the southern part of the city that was still summer there was no problem with changing to more appropriate clothes as there were places to change in the two tunnels and pathways that connected both ends. But right now she wasn’t visiting that section as the female was very busy in the north preparing for the holiday that came this year. As it was with most cases, Samantha was outside and still looking adorably cute this time in her winter coat that was her favorite color of pink. It hadn’t snowed yet today but she could see the Christmas decorations were out which added to the mood of the festivities. Right now she had quite a few bags that were gifts for her family and friends. Samantha then looked up and saw Nicholas was ahead just about to head into one of the places she was going into. The next thing Samantha knew was that she had run up to catch up to the male. “Wait, hold on!” the female stated.
He jumped a little and saw her. “Oh, hey there Samantha,” the male said, getting happy. He was wearing dark green for his coat. There was even a hood with warm fluff but this was down. Samantha suddenly felt her heart was beating a little too fast being this close to him. Her face became a little flushed with blush. “You heading in here to?”
“I am.”
Nicholas then noticed the bags. “Here let me help you with those,” he offered.
“Oh! I… I’m fine…” Samantha mumbled.
“Really, it’s no trouble,” the male stated with a smile.
The female vampire suddenly found she couldn’t say no to Nicholas’s kindness and handed the bags over. “Okay then…” the female said with a grin of her own.
The two went in and they heard the soft Christmas music playing in here. “So then, what do you need to grab?” the male asked her. Samantha smiled and they easily found what she was looking for. It was to be expected as it was still the first week of December. Nicholas did as well and they went up to the counter to purchase their things. The lady working there smiled as she rung them up. “You two have a good date,” she then said after they took these.
Samantha went bright red and stammered but Nicholas placed a hand on her shoulder which made her look up at him. “Come on, let’s go outside to talk,” he said to her. The guy led the way out where they then stood.
“Try to see things from her perspective,” Nicholas commented with a smile. “It’s just us and many couples are out shopping. So can you blame her for saying that?”
“Well… no I guess not,” Samantha replied.
“Although are you dating someone now and that’s why it bothers you?”
“No I’m not,” she answered without missing a beat.
“I see. Then don’t let comments like that get to you. I mean I’m not dating anyone myself so I know what’s really going on.” That comment stuck out in the female’s mind but before she could say anything more, the two noticed it had begun to snow again.
“It returns to us,” Nicholas stated with a grin. Samantha smiled and looked up with him.
“I love it, it’s so pretty…”
“Yeah it’s a fun thing for the most part,” the male commented. “Oh that reminds me I’m glad I ran into you since I need to ask you something.”
“What is it?”
“Well you know how next month is the yearly Count Gathering?” Samantha nodded. That was where all the vampires of the world who were the most influential, rich, and powerful gathered at a place to catch up and discuss the latest ideas and things like that. “Well this time it’s to be at my parents estate here. And I asked them if I could tell you personally that you and your family is to be invited to it. Will you tell them and come to it?”
“Yes, I’d love to,” she replied without missing a beat. That left her shocked as it had come out of her mouth before even thinking about it.
“I know it’s not until the last week of January but at least this gives you plenty of time to prepare,” Nicholas said. “I mean if you change your mind just let us know.”
“No, I will be there…”
“That’s good…” The male vampire then reached out, gently touching her right cheek with a left finger. “I really look forward to seeing you there Miss Samantha…”
She blushed hard like he was to. The guy pulled back and the female could still feel his finger there. He then began to walk away after making sure her bags were left with their owner. But not before looking back at her one last time with a happy smile. Samantha had a matching one. For some reason her breathing was uneasy and butterflies were forming in her stomach just standing there and thinking about Nicholas. From how kind, gentle, and sweet he was, to how he and her had so much in common and to his handsome looks. It was so hard to stop smiling and thinking about the male vampire who just seemed to be like a glowing warm sun. And then Samantha realized there was another feeling in her body. One that hadn’t been there in such a long time. “I… am I falling for him?” she wondered in her head. The vampire didn’t know the answer right now but didn’t want to rule it out just yet. Only time would tell what was going to happen.
