LuxRender is standalone too.
In fact, I just went to check it out, and the Kerkythea exporter script for Blender says "This is the python exporter for Kerkythea XML. It is strongly recommend to use Blender2KT instead which has a richer set of features exported and is much more optimized." And Blender2KT says "This is the branched version of Blender developed by Jean-Michel Soler and published under GPL License. The modified Blender version enables you to directly render with Kerkythea from within Blender." So the version with more features and better optimization isn't standalone.
Not saying anything about the quality of the renders because I haven't tried it for myself, but LuxRender integrates itself nicely into the Blender I'm already using, while KT either has a seemingly deprecated export script (3 years old? Yikes.) or a whole new executable to install in addition to the renderer.

true but your better off exporting to .obj format and importing to KT less chance of losing information and such. its much more tedious then luxrender but the outcome is very much worth it. though I have to ask what are your IOR settings for those gems they seem a touch to dark for their type of gem that they are.
That's not the IOR setting, that's the diffuse color setting, which I know are unrealistically intense. These are magic stones, you know.

also when coloring glass always use the refraction setting with a color 20% brighter then what you intend this way its not to dark.
