It is the Yorkist political propaganda poem, "The Rose of Rouen". (Edward IVth was Born in Rouen).
It's not availible on the internet :( someone scanned it from a hard to find and damned expensive Medieval poetry book for me. I can send you the Original and a translation I made if you want.
FYI,It was written to celebrate the victory Eddie won at Towton in 1461. The Animals mentioned are the Badges of Yorkist lords who participated in the battle. (Retainers would wear the badges).
In the case of the Gryphon, I *think* it is one of Warwick the Kingmaker's badge (confusingly, he sometimes used the staff, sometimes the bear, sometimes both and sometimes something else altogether (he inherited the right to use a whole bunch of em'))

*prrprs* Explains why that was /not/ at all familiar!
Yes, would appreciate the .rtf, please (uncia2000@gmail.com).
Should've guessed re. the badges were I not over-multi-tasked :/
(Those Grypes do get around, too).
Thanks for the transcription & background on that, Dave. *kittyhugs* :)
