The three days were impossibly short, and had gone by far too quickly. What remained were lasting memories, still fresh on the mind, and the smells of each other left from long hugs. They only had minutes to be alone, and the faint glow of the lights outside the small room’s window was enough to highlight each of their faces. Their eyes touched their loving gazes over one another with a fondness that they could not imagine ever diminishing. There were no words, no long farewells, nor tears or cries of sadness. They would make the time last by remembering each other the best way they could; happy. Their last kiss, like their first, was an expression of their love for one another, the only sound in the room the beating of their hearts and their lost breaths.

It was their last night together, and the beginning of a journey. Though they would be apart, they would never be alone.
