Since the back ground in this is scumbled technique I don't want to have to worry about going over my figures or the Mayan glyphs. So, I haul out my handy dandy frisket and cut out a mask over the figures and the glyphs. And trust me, the glyphs weren't fun!. Then I paint the entire background with a nice large brush and lots of slapped around paint. When the paint is dry, I carefully pull up the frisket and paint the rest of the picture. 11x14 pencil on illustration board.
