The main activity of our organization (marine mammal research, rescue and rehabilitation center "Serene Sea" http://serenesea.org) is dolphin stranding response over the Crimean coast (Black Sea). We documented more than 1180 strandings during field seasons 2018-2019; the main cause of cetacean extinction is bycatch in gillnets used for catching turbot and dogfish. 25-30% of stranded dolphins were nursing calves and neonates, who lost their mothers, possibly, in gillnets. It is estimated that more than 20,000 Black Sea cetaceans suffocate in these death nets every year. We try our best to stop this practice until it's not too late.

My heart collapsed while i drew this.
Such a silent death which no one cares about, and no one wants to notice it.
We face these dying, emaciated orphaned babies every spring :( They often fall asleep forever on our hands despite any medical intervention, being completely sick and weak.
I hope you will join and draw some bittersweet pictures with cetaceans too! I hope that we can make people think about this huge problem through our works

I'm quite terrible at taking in too much sad stuff, so I don't often listen to the news or seek out bitter stories. xC I simply cannot handle it.
I've really not been 'creative' for some good years, I can draw, but it feels soulless, so I don't think it seems respectful to draw? ;'O
