Here's the ending result from the assignment. Obviously I had no idea what I was doing, but it was a good starter experience to delve into the world of sculpting.
I ended up having to abandon the medium of sculpting due to the cost of materials, time, and resources. I might return one day, this time with much more knowledge than before, that's for sure. lol

Ah, I remember making clay sculptures and pottery back in grade school. Most of the time things turned out fine, but on one occasion I made a pot with a matching lid (that actually fit, no less) and sent it off to the kiln. The next day, the teacher handed me the pristine lid...which was the only part that survived when an air bubble caused my pot to explode in the kiln. >_<
Ouch. That hurts a man's pride, it does.
I was once sent to a learning center in the middle of sixth grade when we were making fish whistles. My clay got hard while I was gone and had to be tossed, but I at least returned in time to do a rough fish sculpture and glaze it with the rest of the class's fish whistles. I still have the sculpture to this day, but it won't stand up on its own and I learned a valuable lesson in how heat changes colors. Maybe I'll post it here...
