TeaFeathers - Arctic Wolf
Meet the Arctic Wolf tribe in my world of TeaFeathers! The Arctic Wolves are the northernmost members of the loose alliance of canids (who I will eventually give a name to like I did with the Venandi Empire). They're the largest and toughest members of the alliance, but also the friendliest! Life is harsh in the far north where it's very cold. People have to stick together to make ends meet. If you find yourself traveling through their lands, they will go out of their way to share food and shelter, and information on how to survive.
One of the best food sources available for such a large predator are musk ox! Or rather, TeaFeathers versions of musk ox. These enormous animals are about twice the height of an arctic wolf at the shoulder, and roam in small herds. Here's a reminder of how big the wolves themselves are, for reference (about 2 feet taller than an average human).

Wolves utilize spears much like humans' boar spears, with a crossbar at the base of the blade to prevent the ox from charging them. They also frequently cooperate with other arctic inhabitants, like the foxes! Sometimes a fox will travel with a wolf pack for some time, acting as a scout when ox hunting. The giant musk ox has no fear of the little foxes. Once a target is chosen and the hunt begins, the wolf with the strongest arm will toss the fox onto the back of the ox, where they would latch on with barbed daggers and help wear the animal down while the wolves pursue.
I feel like I missed an opportunity to showcase woolly mammoths as a favorite prey of these guys, but I'm also super happy with the musk ox horn/cape design!
This piece was made possible by my wonderful patrons on Patreon! I'm going to be introducing a monthly sticker tier in 2020, so keep an eye out for that if you're interested. :D
