Living among the kelp beds and low roots of the mangroves, Marina is an amphibious, foxlike creature who is able to swim very well and can catch fish with relative ease while evading certain predators who would love to get their jaws around someone of her kind. One of the predators she encountered, Amphitheter, has allowed her safe passage in and out of the couatl's lair as long as she finds suitable food to take her place from time to time. Of course, there's also Tydas, who she keeps appeased with various other travelers as part of an unspoken deal. And when he's not hungry, there's always his belly she can rub to please him~
