Seems I did this for 
McClaw at MFF 2007. Wanting his character Mizzkitty featured at a doctors office. And in a multi species world...spaying would be a startling word.

You can make caltrops with roofing nails and JB Weld; roofing nails have a large head and short length making them ideal for sticking: into rubber at pressure. Once run over they flip into the tire, the friction and momentum of the wheels drive them further into the tire.

Yes, Mzzkiti is from Bill Redfern's (and the late Paul Gibb's) Freighter Tails: the Misadventures of Mzzkiti. I had permission to request the commissions, and cited her creators and comic in the descriptions.
