This is a bunch of things.
Cryosanthia is an old character of mine. She was created in 1996 I believe, it's hard to tell. You draw something, and it's just another thing, until you draw it over and over. The first time you make it isn't significant, and to (mis)-quote a comic I never fully understood, "You don't realize the last time you played touch football with your brothers, is the last time, when you're playing."
In an endearing and painful way, pictures I made of her were found by a future friend. After I'd known her for a couple years and we were swapping pics, I saw one of my original ones of Cryo in her collection. It was one of those fun realizations, as she didn't realize I was the artist, and I had never spoken of Cryo to her before.
Cryo was also the main subject of a comic, by the late and very great,
VickyWyman The comic is here, https://www.furaffinity.net/view/21578340/ . I had asked Vicky to do the work, because of her Every Changing Palace, and I felt she could give it the gravitas. I threw a lot of themes at her, and she managed to sort it out. It was, with the exception of a humorous outtake somewhat based on the characters, the last sequential work she did.
Cryo herself, was designed as FurryMuck (and a couple other Mucks) roleplay character. Sort of an ongoing Macro, she would start out normal sized, and every year I'd increase her, usually with plane themes. So she was cessna, dart, DC10, 747, superlifter sized at times. "Big as a Backhoe", was another comparison, as it was easy to see the rear tractor wheel as her entire hip and hind-leg area. Her FM mother was Thermoriax.
By design, she was supposed to have a tragic arc, growing older, larger and more distant. This worked a little too effectively perhaps, not sure why I'm relating to her more and more as things go on. I have an idea for a sequel to Resolution, but it's taking its time, still Cryo is on my mind and I wanted to have some fun with her.
Which is where this WIP comes in. It's a character portrait for a character I've made on a Pathfinder (D&D 3.75 ed) MUSH. They don't have "furries" there, and a bit of a hate-on for G-cup Dark Elves with high charisma, but do have avians and lizardfolk that are descended from dragons. So I thought I'd try Cryo as a character, in the form of a swashbuckling ice sorceress. If anyone is interested in coming there, RPing with her, and checking things out, details about the site and setting can be found here. http://tenebraemush.net/index.php/Main_Page
As added incentive, if you make it through the very involved char-app and char-gen process, get approved and make a char web-page on their wiki, I'll do a character illustration for you. Obviously I'd be better at lizardmen or birdfolk, but could probably pull off a human, humanoid, or G-cup Dark Elf if pressed.
Ohyeah, about the WIP, it's an all digital sketch and it took several attempts to get it to fit the page. Still unsure of the digital sketching technique, I prefer to work with pencils on paper, scan, and go from there. The multiple colours were attempts to fix earlier mistakes, or build clothing onto the frame. Her colouration is going to be primarily white, with bright "ice" blues. I quickly threw some white behind the lines to stand out from the background. I'll add a bit more detail to them, but don't want to spend too much time because they're mostly to set the scene.
Anyhow, see you on TB maybe!
