Furry Survival with Friends - Biomes/Minions Design Doc
Part 2 of the design docs for Furry Survival! PART 1 HERE
Here we take a look at HOME LOCATIONS, all the wonderful places and challenges you might undertake in the making of an enclave. Also we explore just what we can do with TRANSFORMING MINIONS. Remember, an angry human can be a happy kobold if you scale them right.
There are games about building bases, it is true. But they deeply concern themselves with the how, the structure of the mess. They build a house, but really, don't we want to make a home?
Come along with me, with a gentle fantasy of a world gone slightly fluffy, of people picking themselves up and creating a place where they can be at home. Where you can hug your little minion after a job well done, or pet him if he's feeling down. Where construction is about creating something enjoyable, rather than succeeding at surviving in a grimdark mess of sadness.
Let's build something together.
This is a general overlay of the idea and what it aspires towards, but it is also a request for aid! I am an IT programmer, but I lack the experience of Unity2d and such, as well as the art chops to make such a thing happen. I can design, but it takes more than one person to build a home. Primarily I'm looking for someone who does have experience who can handle the lead programming role while I assist. Note that signal boosting is wonderful! Even if you cannot, knowing someone who can is a great thing. And even just going "Yes good I want this" in the comments is pleasing and encouraging.

Definitely interesting! Am curious how the leader would work, and what options they have...
[and I admit, how viable a durgon would be].
Also, is magic only a thing with Arcanistry, or can other starting areas take it? Is it species-limited at all?
And finally... I can probably help conceptualize this some, or at least make some ideas and whatnot. I've got no experience programming, but I'm not unfamiliar with games... not just stuff like Civ, but also stuff like Armello. I've never played Riimworld, admittedly, but I suspect I can help nonetheless.

I imagine a Durgon would be very Powerful indeed, capable of smashing away intruders. Imposing, though not entirely good at gentle hugs. They're more of a sort to be hugged. They have increased space requirements, and aren't good at fine crafting... but surely you have minions for that right?
Arcanistry is part of me throwing ideas around! It's both a way to start you with Extreme Polymorphing Technology as well as pit enemies against you, and explores an alternate version of the furry doom. In much the same vein, the latex slimes don't really exist in the earlier levels, but then the ultimate difficulty lets you be them. It allows for a more expansion-pack style development, where someone is like "hey what if you were THIS kind of enclave" and we nod our heads and add it as a level rather than trying to overhaul the entire game.
I suspect I shall have to actually play rimworld at some point. Opposition research, is it? I liked OxygenNotIncluded, though it's both concerningly convoluted and lends itself to an attitude of "oh noooooo" when something inevitably goes horribly wrong. Meep had a bladder accident, on a floor that was accessible to your water tank! Oh noooo...

Yes good I want this
I don't know Unity2D; I know Python and could potentially help make basic prototypes. I've also some very minor experience working on game development. If you've got telegram, my handle is summerotter on there. There's also a telegram chat for developers.

Would love to see four-armed species be a thing, especially if the arms and legs are equidistant instead of armpit arms. "https://www.furaffinity.net/view/32967121/" Also, bassarisks, chevrotains, and many other mammal/avain/scalie species are sorely underrepresented in the fandom, but would likely have far more balanced representation in such a scenario.
I touched on that a little in the overlord questions; taurs will definitely be a thing! Two legs, four legs taur legs!
We call them taurs because it's a happier name than hexapods, and you can show a centaur and they're like "oh yeah".
Taurs are very good at carrying things! Put some lumber on their back, let them haul cargo around while still having the use of their front arms. Additionally, nothing says point defense like putting saddle-mounted twin-rotary-autocannons on a centaur. Dakka dakka dakka.
In exchange, they take up more space, need more food, and generally gear for them is just more expensive. Try handing them a kobold-sized sweater, and watch them look all confused. Is... is this a fashion meme?

Um, it shouldn't... It should link to this: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/32967121/ (If this doesn't work, look up "Gene POPS: Shapely" and you should find it.)
