"These days I try to keep myself busy. Goodness knows there is much to be done. And in this sea of miscellaneous tasks on my daily schedual, it's the observation of Specimen 16-9-11-1 (or Thunderat as some of the younger scientists and lab technicians had started calling it) that captured my attention recently.
This hairless, larger-than-normal rodent displays a remarkable intelligence and problam solving skills, far beyond those of regular rats. It was fully able to get it's points accross through gestures and crude indications of intent. Not to mention a remarkable memory and recognition of details. As for it's natural electrogenic, I have no words. The specimen can generate around a billion joules of electrical energy. Several times it fried out equipment and lighting systems when we tried to gage it's output. To put it into perspective, this little cat-sized rat can produce a literal lightning bolt's worth of energy. Even though the effort leaves it drained and limp with exaustion, the feat alone is unelivable still. Never since the capture, study and training of the mythical Starving Skeleton during the war have I had the chance to observe such an amazing creature. We live in a new age of wonders I know it and this little guy is proof of that.
My son would love to have seen it."
