Commish for
hyenafur, if it still stands.
I'm swearing myself off any videogame based commissions from this point on.
This is fraught with a lot of problems. I don't own the consoles or games so I had to go find all the extra refs myself. Downloaded the Halo artbook to find it had next to nothing on enviroments, had to find what a sniper's scoped view looks like, fiddled with almost a hundred composition variations. Lots of little things no one will notice in the final work but is more tiresome than the sum of its parts.
I know, I know, rifle barrel is a bit short but I had tight paper constraints. Since the character is clothed, I replaced the usual camo pattern with character stripes instead.
That's a weight off my mind.
Now to go clear up the rest, so if I start work again at least I'm debt free.

Ya know... Personally, I try to make the work easier for the artist by giving them references to work with. Or asking them what they need to get the job done so i can make their job easier. Then toss them ideas and references, rather than saying, "Draw my character as X hero." and expecting you to know what it is.
Over all, it's a great picture.

Two thoughts occur because of this image:
1. If anything defines your artwork, it's the staggeringly high standard you hold yourself to. [Not an insult. Many aim to get to be good enough to hold ourselves to this kind of standard.]
2. Aligning the impact mark with the barrel, while not strictly necessary, adds a relation between them that works nicely.

I never went to an art academy. Couldn't afford it.
Almost everything I know was self-taught, through observation and experimentation. A willingness to discover and tinker is essential to your own self-improvement that schools can never fully impart.
As Albert Einstein would say of himself, "I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious."
