For someone with over four-hundred (and still going) hours into Firaxis’ XCOM, Xenonauts is a game that I have had so much trouble in order to enjoy—and not because it harbors back to the classic era of XCOM. Far from it; if the older games were as accessible and easy to understand as Xenonauts, then I might have gone back to play the original Enemy Unknown to this day.
To describe the problem in short: The text is too small that it impeded my ability to enjoy the game, and that aspect almost forever turned me away from enjoying this game until I discovered “Strinder's Large Font Mod.” Ironically, while I did install the mod, the font doesn’t seem to be enabled in this footage, so I may have to go back and tweak it. It probably helped that I ran this game on a 4K monitor, so the text-scaling issue likely fixed itself from that alone. However, as I go back to get that mod issue sorted out, you can view the vast improvements from my comparison down below as well as a link giving you the instructions to install the mod:

Anyways, this video series seemed like the best idea to accumulate all my future footage for an XCOM retrospective as these games are genuinely my favorite games of all time. XCOM 2 is without a doubt the best game I have ever played—modded or not—and it speaks volumes that I have likely spent fifty hours just making characters for my roster. Maybe someday I will be tolerant enough to finish a game of Long War 1 or 2 before getting tired of it. (Someday, perhaps, but not today.)
