Notice he carries no guns, Winston doesn't need them because he has the 'Phantom' alien spirit within him that gave him amazing powers of illusion and mind. Upon his death in 1927 he passed on his powers to a young ferret newspaper reporter named Thelma Rogers. She became the Phantom Ferret.
