Ashura: Record
I write this journal about one month after Lysander made their wish. This is my first diary entry, and I am honestly a little nervous about how this will sound. Zephyr told me that it would all be fine, but I really don’t know. Either way, I at least feel the need to reflect on what has happened in the past month:
The wolf, Willow, has become fast friends with Cutlass, the dragon. The two spend plenty of time together, and Cutlass’s family is helping in any way they can to help Willow and their siblings. The two of them like to visit Zephyr and me on occasion, which is always welcome. However, I’m still getting used to Deneb. They just look so much like Abaddon, it’s still a little unnerving. They’re completely different in personality, thankfully.
Lysander’s new continent has become much more successful than I initially expected. There is a barrier around the continent that stops outsiders from entering. This barrier is controlled by Lysander themself, so anyone who wants to visit can enter so long as they are approved by Lysander. Otherwise, any native people can enter the continent as they please. Some tribes opted to stay in the Southern State, citing that they are still entitled to the land in which they grew up. Either way, the tribes living on the new continent are thriving, and it is wonderful to see.
As for Zephyr, they still want to be a teacher, but they understand gaining ultimate knowledge is much further from their grasp than they thought. They are still learning, however, visiting the new continent and living amongst people to understand the ramifications of the genocide and the exclusionary attitudes people still have. Zephyr genuinely enjoys learning about this new subject, but they also understand that the elementalist traditions of the tribes are not something to give to anyone. As a result, Lysander and Zephyr have gained more respect for one another.
Finally, as for me, I live on the mountains with Zephyr. I am their student, and we study elements together and practice. Aside from that, we have deep conversations as we get to learn more about each other. It truly makes me happy that I could find a sense of belonging.
And this concludes my diary entry. I hope to write several more as the days pass. I feel like this past month has truly opened my eyes to the world around me. I have gone from a persecuted minority in the Holy Eastern Empire to a student learning elemental magic. Seeing everyone around me grow has been a wonderful experience as well. Maybe I will grow strong enough to help the other birds in the empire someday. With that, I must sleep. I hope our happy tales continue for years to come.
~The End~
...And that's the story! I hope everyone enjoyed this! I'm not as proud of the writing as i was for the other stories, but I'm glad I was able to do something nice for December!
