I have made up my own fictions in my head for various reasons over the years, sometimes in media, usual ones i watch rather then play. that sometimes what i an watching reminds me of things before. including stuff i made up and for a moment i end up comparing things rather then focusing on what in front of me. sometimes it can even spark new ideas. some witch are not even the intention of what i am watching at the time.
Its also a very different thing when I'm writing for a few folks i know in particular vs writing for a massive group of random unknown folks. with the small group i can work out what they would be into and cater to their tastes easily enough, but with something that anyone is gonna read i begin to nick pick every detail of things they 'might not enjoy' and end up getting nowhere. (so ultimately, i am on a similar boat as you on the subject.)
I am a big fan on new/unusual concepts and ideas (at least new to me) so these tent to be the kind of things i like to consume and want to create.
And finaly , hows it feeling to be getting these out there?

I feel pretty much this same way about media myself, except I'd usually sort of prefer to just amuse and confuse people than make my point of view persuasive, or even legible. But no matter what you wanna do with an audience, knowing your audience is the best way to justify all the time, effort and cost of a passion peoject, and generally feel less like it's that Andy Warholy burrito camera situation. But counterintuitively, in order to know your audience you need to SHRINK your audience to include almost zero hypothetical strangers with unknowable opinions. That's how niche stuff like Phantom Tollbooth even happens, it feels like it was written to impress a friend, and liking it without meeting the author feels like spending time with a friend too.
