Through brambled path and thorny wood
A Hare push'd through, his sword held high,
In thickest tangle, there he stood
And spied a glint of brightest sky.
He tore and hacked, steel cutting true,
Cruel hooks still back they tried to pull,
"Not back, but forward, toward that blue!"
He called, his heart, pounding and full.
At last his eyes found towering peaks,
And forest vast, a river wide,
"For once, I find what my heart seeks,
A new beginning, towards life, I'll ride."
A gift for theleonard, who has been through a long, difficult, and often painful journey. You've climbed out of the brambles. Now your path is open and bright, with your greatest adventures still ahead.
Watercolor, 9X12 inches.
