I would suspect that's fire punch, where a bit of sugar is soaked in rum and set on fire over a mug of mulled wine. Various drinks like this, such as the Swedish mulled wine called glogg and vino caliente in Spain, are common during the cold holiday months. The flaming cube of sugar over it is a German tradition.
