Oh, now it's spring, and I suddenly had an association. Imagine a lawn in the city park that was covered with snow, and dogs crapped on it all the winter. And now all snow melted, lawns are flooded... something like that.

Day 69 of the expedition

We crested the rim of the glossy white mountian we guess is caused by intense heat at some point melting and glazing the natural strata into this condition. Here, we found the area had a steep bowl, a large lake, with some very strange small brownish islands protruding up through its surface. My science team thinks, due to the sulfurous smell and color of the lake, that its naturally fed water supply perhaps, with the minerals and acid leeching from within. We have managed to get used to the smell somewhat, so tonite we will camp on the lake rim, and bring up a makeshift boat and paddle to the other side and check out these strange islands. What a strange an unusual land we are exploring and mapping, but this has been the most peculiar by far.
